Court Date

Well our adoption passed court in Ethiopia. Now our in country staff is preparing Selam's passport, birth Cert. and adoption decree. They say we'll fly by end of April.
At home in Maine we're still shoveling snow and shifting bedrooms, while getting ready for our adventure to Ethiopia. We've had wonderfull support from family in New Jersey, work and friends. All seems to be falling into place. One of Selam's little friends, Hebron, was adopted by a family in Ohio and has contacted us so they can stay in touch when she comes.

Update on Selam from Ethiopia

This report was sent from Rachael, our social worker in Ethiopia this week.
Sounds like she's ready for us.

3.21.2008 Personality and Development Update

Selam had two other girlfriends leave the transition home this week, so she has been sad at their absence. Since the departures of her friends that have been here with her from the beginning, Selam’s personality is showing a different side to it. She’s become a real leader of the rest of the children, and it is obvious that she enjoys being in charge and being the spokesperson for the group. She loves to teach them the alphabet and various English words…she is the one standing up front while they are sitting down facing her! Everyday Selam asks about her family in America, and seeing other adoptive families come only builds her excitement. Selam has a delightful personality, loves to be loved on, and is an all around good kid! As stated previously, Selam is a good mix between tomboy and girly. She loves playing with boys and wearing baseball hats....and then painting her nails and wearing headbands.

The Heinrichs

Join us on our journey of adoption to Ethiopia!!
We have received our referral for Selam, who is a 9 yr. old girl. She has had a difficult life so far but is described as kind, joyful, with her eyes always sparkling and a smile always on her face. The Lord has prepared our family for such a time as this, to give her a new better life in America.
Selam has pictures of us in Ethiopia also and is proud of her new family and home. We will certainly be blessed by her.

Our court date is set for March 22. Hopefully all will go well and we will be able to travel to get her in April.

Each time your check in on us through this blog, please pray for her.
